The Hypocrisy of Delbert Hosemann

By Ryan S. Walters | @ryanswalters73

Recently, two Jackson-based Republican political operatives, Greg Brand and George Williams, entered no contest1 pleas for a misdemeanor charge concerning a printed campaign mailer distributed during the 2015 state election cycle.

Their target was Madison mayor Mary Hawkins-Butler, who was running in the primary for State Auditor. The mailer ridiculed Hawkins-Butler but was also anonymously distributed with no names or addresses listed, a violation of state law because it mentioned a specific candidate for office.

Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann, who oversees the state’s election laws, referred to such seemingly outrageous conduct as “destructive to the republic.” Columnist, political consultant, and establishment mouthpiece Brian Perry pushed the same narrative in a recent column, writing that “if you mention a candidate, put a disclaimer on it” because “it’s the law, and also just good manners.” [Read more…]

Senator Melanie Sojourner: Courage Under Fire

Despite consistent attacks by the GOP Establishment, Senator Melanie Sojourner has remained a steadfast champion of conservative values.

By Ryan S. Walters | @ryanswalters73

sojournerThere’s an ongoing war within the Republican Party in Mississippi between the Establishment and Conservatives. Last year we saw it up close and personal in the battle between Thad Cochran and Chris McDaniel. This year the fight is in State Senate District 37, a contest between Senator Melanie Sojourner and two Establishment hack candidates, a deceitful tactic concocted by the powers that be designed to split the vote and throw the race to one of their own.

The party-controlling Establishment Republicans, seeking to destroy a prominent conservative this campaign season, chose to go after Senator Sojourner in retaliation for managing McDaniel’s US Senate campaign. This race is their latest phase in the war to cleanse conservatives from the GOP in Mississippi. [Read more…]

Y’all Politics Attacks Concerned Republicans in Jones County

Frank Corder, Alan Lange, and Company Show Their True Elitist Colors

In the aftermath of the recent US Senate election, a Jones County Republican group is hosting a public forum and has called on the top four GOP state elected officials, as well as the MS GOP Chair, to appear and answer questions at four separate events in Laurel.

“The Republicans of Jones County” sent a letter to Governor Phil Bryant, Lt. Governor Tate Reeves, State Auditor Stacey Pickering, Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann, and Chairman Joe Nosef inviting them to attend during the month of September – Pickering and Nosef on September 9, Hosemann on the 16th, Reeves on the 23rd, and Bryant on the 30th.

Attached to the letter, the group provided the questions they would like to have answered. The forum concerns one issue: Jones County Republicans want to know the opinions of the state’s top Republicans on the events surrounding the June 24 runoff, specifically the issue of party raiding.

You can view the letter and the questions here: Jones County Republicans Letter

It is important to understand that this is not a TEA PARTY-backed event. It is a REPUBLICAN forum, a serious effort that will hopefully begin the process of uniting the party for the future. [Read more…]

Midsouth Sentinel: Despite Media Reports, No Deadline to File Election Challenge

Is it too late for Chris McDaniel’s post-runoff lawsuit? Ummm well according to the SECRETARY OF STATE’S OFFICE…NO!

Midsouth Sentinel, August 27, 2014

So looking at how this has been handled by the GOP and the media I started wondering… How can you effectively investigate fraud in the election when officials won’t allow you the access to information that would reveal the fraud? What are you so afraid of GOP? That a younger, more inspiring, principled leader might end your gravy train? Why is the media reporting things that aren’t true? Do they have an agenda? [Read more…]

Last week Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann told a group on the coast that he thought Chris McDaniel’s election challenge was a “distraction”. But it’s becoming more obvious that the distraction Sec. Hosemann was actually referring to was from his own political aspirations. [Read more…]

Breitbart: True The Vote Sues MS Secretary of State, GOP Over Cochran’s Alleged Voter Fraud

True The Vote Sues MS Secretary of State, GOP Over Cochran’s Alleged Voter Fraud

Conservative election integrity organization True The Vote filed suit in federal court Tuesday against Mississippi’s Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann and the Mississippi Republican Party, asking a judge for an immediate injunction against them so that the election material from the state’s June 24 GOP primary runoff can be inspected.

The lawsuit comes as allegations that Sen. Thad Cochran’s (R-MS) campaign and his allies engaged in voter fraud to win last Tuesday’s runoff against conservative state Sen. Chris McDaniel. Cochran bested McDaniel by fewer than 7,000 votes but did so with an overwhelming turnout from liberal Democrats in the black community.

“All we are asking is that the MS State Republican Party follow the law; allow their designated county representatives to inspect the poll books and ballots, give them the review time they are permitted by law, and allow them to uphold their responsibility to MS voters,” True the Vote president Catherine Engelbrecht said in a statement about the suit. “True the Vote has been inundated with reports from voters across Mississippi who are outraged to see the integrity of this election being undermined so that politicos can get back to business as usual. Enough is enough.” [Read more…]
