The Hypocrisy of Delbert Hosemann

By Ryan S. Walters | @ryanswalters73

Recently, two Jackson-based Republican political operatives, Greg Brand and George Williams, entered no contest1 pleas for a misdemeanor charge concerning a printed campaign mailer distributed during the 2015 state election cycle.

Their target was Madison mayor Mary Hawkins-Butler, who was running in the primary for State Auditor. The mailer ridiculed Hawkins-Butler but was also anonymously distributed with no names or addresses listed, a violation of state law because it mentioned a specific candidate for office.

Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann, who oversees the state’s election laws, referred to such seemingly outrageous conduct as “destructive to the republic.” Columnist, political consultant, and establishment mouthpiece Brian Perry pushed the same narrative in a recent column, writing that “if you mention a candidate, put a disclaimer on it” because “it’s the law, and also just good manners.” [Read more…]

Exclusive From Breitbart: Tea Party Patriots Files FEC Complaint Against Pro-Cochran Super PAC

EXCLUSIVE – TEA PARTY PATRIOTS FILES FEC COMPLAINT AGAINST PRO-COCHRAN SUPER PAC

Matthew Boyle, Breitbart News, May 15, 2014

The Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund chairman Jenny Beth Martin is alleging a loan given to a super PAC backing Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS) in the bitter Mississippi primary race was illegal, according to a complaint she filed with the Federal Election Commission Thursday that was obtained exclusively by Breitbart News.

The complaint says the $250,000 loan amounts to an illegal campaign contribution. It also says, in contrast to the group’s explanation of the loan, that the group’s own filings indicate the loan was not secured with collateral.

Representing the Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund in the complaint filing with the FEC is high-profile conservative attorney Cleta Mitchell. Mitchell serves on the board of the American Conservative Union (ACU) and is the lead attorney for many Tea Party groups against the IRS over that scandal. She has also testified before various congressional committees about the IRS scandal and other matters. [Read more…]

Brian Perry’s Flip Flop on Sarah Palin

As we reported yesterday, Brain Perry, the spokesperson for the Thad Cochran-supporting Fake “Mississippi Conservatives” Super PAC, is a hypocrite.  Perry released a statement attempting to downplay Chris McDaniel’s endorsement from former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

In doing a little more research, we found a statement from Mr. Perry on Sarah Palin from 2008. While serving as one of Mississippi’s delegates at the GOP National Committee, Perry had nothing but praise for Palin.

“There’s been a lot of concern that the Republican brand has been damaged. She [Palin] comes from outside of Washington…. She’s shown she’s experienced, she can do the job, she has the charisma to inspire and she has the knowledge.”

But fast forward to now and you will get a very different take on Palin from Perry. He now wants to pretend she is unimportant. I guess Mr. Perry once again shows his willingness to flip flop on the issues when it comes to defending his hero Thad Cochran.

It is also quite interesting that in Perry’s statement that he talks about “concern that the Republican brand has been damaged.” Yet here he is leading attacks against a fellow Republican. I don’t believe it is a stretch to say that Perry and his buddy Henry Barbour are doing far more damage to the Republican brand by attacking Chris McDaniel instead of just promoting their candidate. But with Thad’s atrocious record, it is hard to stick just to the facts.

Once again, we see another example of just who the real flip flopper is. And his name is Brian Perry.

Brian Perry Keeps Making Himself Look Foolish

Brian Perry, the poor choice for a spokesperson for the Fake “Mississippi Conservatives” Super PAC once again shows he is either severely lacking in his intellectual prowess or he’s simply a hypocrite in yet another attempt to bail out his candidate, Thad Cochran.  Most likely, it’s the latter.

After Sarah Palin endorsed Chris McDaniel in the race for Cochran’s Senate seat, Perry released the following statement:  “Just a reminder that Sarah Palin also endorsed Bill Marcy and Angela McGlowan in 2010.  After McGlowan placed third in the primary, as I remember, she endorsed (Alan) Nunnelee and also (Steven) Palazzo both in the general election.  Wonder if she maintains her position on Bill Marcy, now a Dem candidate for the same seat McDaniel is running for?”

Now for some facts. Steven Palazzo wasn’t running against Marcy. But, as we’ve seen in the past with Perry, facts never get in his way. The truth seems to be something he steps all over. [Read more…]
