Palazzo Votes for Unconstitutional, Warrantless Wiretapping

One Friday afternoon, Representative Steven Palazzo posted the following to his Facebook page:
Last night, I had the opportunity to review the classified memo that many of you have been hearing about. I am highly concerned by the contents and as a result of those concerns, I believe that the contents of those documents should be released immediately to the public. The American people deserve to know. #releasethememo
Representative Palazzo is referencing the FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) memo circulating around lawmakers in Washington. It’s a four page memo that exposes abuses in government surveillance.
Some lawmakers in Washington are so shocked by the contents of the document that they are referring to it as “KGB like activity”.
Representative Scott Perry (PA-R) had this to say about the memo “You think about, ‘is this happening in America or is this the KGB?’ That’s how alarming it is,”.
So, what’s wrong with the statement that Rep. Palazzo made? Well he’s leaving out a very important piece of information. He’s leaving out the part how he voted just last week to continue these tactics.
Last Thursday, not only did Steven Palazzo vote against The Amash Amendment which would have made changes to section 702 of FISA, requiring the government get a warrant if they want to peek into your records, he also voted to reauthorize FISA all together after the Amash Amendment failed to gain the votes needed to pass.
This Amendment would have been pivotal to stopping government abuse of this program, and would halt these KGB tactics the government is using against citizens.
However, instead of offering solutions, Representative Palazzo is just playing with the minds of constituents.
This isn’t the first time Representative Palazzo has been caught talking out of both sides of his mouth.
He’s actually became quite the master of such tactics. He shouts pandering statements about being pro-life, yet votes to fund parenthood. He says he’s against Obamacare, yet votes in favor of budgets that fund obamacare.
My favorite double standard from him came just this past summer. On May 4th, 2017, Representative Palazzo posted the following on Facebook, “Throw your hands in the air, like you just repealed Obamacare.” This post was tagged with a picture of Rep. Palazzo coming out the capital ecstatic after voting in favor of “Obamacare Lite”. Which we all know was no vote to truly repeal Obamacare.
Then on July 18th, 2017 he had the following words to say, “Wow, Senator McConnell finally found some guts.He is finally going to put a full Obamacare repeal on the Senate floor and make these Senators go on record one way or another. Either you want Obamacare repealed or you don’t. Time to take a stand.”
I and other residents of south Mississippi are sick and tired of these tactics. It’s time we offer solutions and stop misrepresenting the facts
Palazzo’s latest attempt to pull the wool over the eyes of the voters is yet another example of how he is nothing more than a member of the Washington Establishment, that will say anything to try and stay in office. He offers very few solutions to actually draining the swamp.
