In the Book of Proverbs (22:28), the Lord gave us a warning: “Remove not the ancient landmark, which they fathers have set.” Many contend that is exactly what Mayor Landrieu has done by pulling down monuments honoring the city’s historical heroes, and doing so for political purposes in order to curry favor with his electoral base. Such reasoning behind his action makes it all the more tragic.
The illustrious mayor said his plan would make the city better. But what has been the result? Crime has exploded in the city. There’s been a rash of murders, ranking it among the most violent in the nation; armed robberies and muggings; and shootings along the interstate. Let’s face it: New Orleans has become much too dangerous to visit. And last week the city suffered a major flood not seen since the days of Katrina.
Personally, I do not believe the Lord our God willingly and actively punishes people for disobedience and ungodliness. However, it is clear in the Scriptures that if anyone turns from God and his eternal Word, trouble arrives at the doorstep:
“But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee.” – Deuteronomy 28:15
Are we seeing this in New Orleans?
Whether you believe it or not, it’s time to start electing God-fearing leaders in our cities, and rid ourselves of Godless liberal Democrats who have turned once proud American metropolises into a literal Hell on Earth!
