Last week saw the typical, knee-jerk liberal media go ballistic over supposed comments by President Trump. In discussing immigration issues with members of Congress, Trump reportedly referred to “Third World” nations as “s***holes.” The Left immediately pounced on the “news” as yet another example of the President’s racism.
But now we know the rest of the story. The report of Trump’s intemperate speech came from none other than Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois, who has a history of lies and vile invective. Other members of Congress who were in the room say that Trump never made the remark.
So, chalk up another fib and ugly remark to Dicky Durbin:
- In 2013, Durbin wrote a Facebook post in which he accused a House Republican leader of saying to President Obama, “I cannot even stand to look at you.” Both the Speaker’s office and the White House denied the remark.
- In 2005, Durbin disparaged US troops: “If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Sovietsin their gulags, or some mad regime – Pol Pot or others – that had no concern for human beings. Sadly, that is not the case. This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners.” He reluctantly apologized.
- And, just for good measure, this same liberal Senator was caught paying his female staff members $11,000 less than their male counterparts. When Americas PAC began running ads pointing out the hypocrisy, Durbin threatened to sue the radio station airing the ads and getting their FCC license revoked.
Trump has now given him a new nickname: “Dicky” Durbin and he’s worthy of it. Perhaps the President should ban Durbin from future White House meetings until he apologizes for his most recent lie.
