One of the most often asked questions by Mississippi voters concerns Planned Parenthood and the funding it currently receives from the federal government, and specifically if Cindy Hyde-Smith has voted in favor of continued funding.
Each year, in Title X subsidies in the funding for Health and Human Services, Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, receives about $500 million a year from US taxpayers. Planned Parenthood performs more than 800 abortions a day, totaling more than 320,000 per year in the United States, all while claiming that none of the money is used for abortions and most of the work they do is not abortion-related.
Yet on a number of occasions they have been caught red-handed lying about their services. Planned Parenthood was created as an abortion provider and that is its main function. They also make large contributions to the Democratic Party in what can only be seen as a massive bribery scheme. Since 2012, Planned Parenthood has spent over $50 million in direct contributions to Democrats and in their massive lobbying effort.
Abortion opponents in Congress have worked for years to stop funding Planned Parenthood, to no avail. And 2018 is no different.
When the recent omnibus appropriations bill was voted on by the full Senate, which contained the funding for Planned Parenthood (as well as billions of dollars in other ventures over and above what Trump asked for), Cindy Hyde-Smith voted for it, thus providing Planned Parenthood with its annual stipend of half a billion dollars.
So, Cindy Hyde-Smith may claim that she opposes funding for Planned Parenthood, but the truth is she is just as responsible as liberal Democrats in providing funds for the largest mass murder organization in America.
A serious pro-lifer like Chris McDaniel would have never done that. He detests abortion and has vowed that he will never vote for any bill that includes funding for Planned Parenthood.
