MDS. Also known as “McDaniel Derangement Syndrome.” It’s a serious condition that infects the Establishment political class in Mississippi and is triggered by the mere presence of Senator Chris McDaniel and his potential candidacy for the US Senate.
The powers-that-be fear that McDaniel will face-off against the hapless Roger Wicker, who is no more a conservative than I am an astronaut, and this is especially troubling coming on the heels of Roy Moore’s victory in Alabama last week and the well-known fact that Steve Bannon has placed a target on Roger Wicker’s back.
The Mississippi Establishment – the collusion of Republicans and Democrats – knows they should have lost the 2014 US Senate race and only won by using despicable race baiting tactics and a sleazy vote-buying scheme. The whole bunch should have been in orange jumpsuits.
Now the very real possibility exists that they will have to face Chris McDaniel again, and this time in a political atmosphere that is even more anti-establishment and anti-incumbent. And they won’t be able to drag out their racist attack machine or buy votes for $15 a piece. That garbage will never work again.
So the Establishment, and their mouthpieces in the media, is attacking Chris McDaniel, even though he is still a non-candidate at this point, at every turn, hoping to weaken him in the eyes of voters.
Columnist Sam R. Hall of the Clarion Ledger Liar, a former Executive Director of the Mississippi Democratic Party, which should tell you a lot, wrote a McDaniel Hit Piece today entitled “On Chris McDaniel, Hillary Clinton and the Las Vegas Shooting.” Hall accuses McDaniel of playing politics with the tragedy and having no sympathy for the victims.
He centered on a McDaniel tweet that read: “The 2nd Amendment is non-negotiable.”
Hall then wrote, “It struck me as odd that anyone – particularly a politician who is considering a run for Senate – would make his first statement about such a tragedy be about politics or policy.” He also called it “tone-deaf politics.”
In answering the “what about Hillary?” charge from some conservatives, Hall included a tweet from Mrs. Clinton having sympathy with the victims but also admitted she waded into the political discussion. Yet Hall conveniently forgot to include Hillary’s most politically charged tweet, when she wrote:
Such tactics are typical of the liberal media.
But here’s the unvarnished truth:
McDaniel’s first post about the tragedy was not about the Second Amendment. That came later. He first wrote about the underlying causes of the tragedy: “We don’t need new laws, but we do need a renewed commitment to individual value and dignity. A spiritual reawakening would be a good place to start.”
As for McDaniel’s 2nd Amendment tweet, the truth is that it was Democrats, you know Sam Hall’s people, who jumped out first with the political talk and the gun-grabbing rhetoric (not to mention the leftwing nutcases who wanted to see Trump supporters die). Senator McDaniel was simply answering what Hillary and other tyrannical gun haters – most every Democrat on the planet – were already saying. They turned it into a political debate first, not Chris McDaniel or any other conservative.
But sadly this is what we can come to expect over the next few months, as we await McDaniel’s decision. True conservatives across the state who are supporting McDaniel and want to see the Establishment dethroned must be prepared for more outbursts of MDS every single time Senator McDaniel utters a word on Facebook or Twitter.
Their relentless McDaniel-bashing campaign only shows an unusual amount of fear because if Chris McDaniel was really an unelectable fruitcake with no chance to beat Roger Wicker, as we’ve already heard many times, then why not simply ignore him? Why attack someone, especially when that person has yet to announce his candidacy, if they really have no chance to win?
But he does have a great chance to win and they know it. It’s the only explanation for their repeated playground tactics. This is only another pathetic attempt to save Roger Wicker by hurting Chris McDaniel. And it’s not going to work.
Welcome to Chris McDaniel vs. The Establishment 2.0!!
