Over the past month, much of the nation followed the tragic story of Mollie Tibbetts, a beautiful young college student in Iowa who had gone missing. Now the truth has emerged, as her lifeless body was discovered a few days ago in a cornfield. An illegal alien from Mexico has confessed to killing her.
Senator Chris McDaniel, one of four candidates for the US Senate special election, was the only one to issue any kind of statement on this senseless crime:
He also took Senator Elizabeth Warren to task for her tasteless and heartless comments. “Lieawatha” offered her condolences to the Tibbetts family but quickly shifted to what she considered the “real problems” with immigration.
“One of the things we have to remember is we need an immigration system that is effective, that focuses on where real problems are. Last month, I went down to the border and I saw where children had been taken away from their mothers, I met with those mothers who had been lied to, who didn’t know where their children were, who hadn’t have a chance to talk to their children, and there was no plan for how they would be reunified with their children.
“I think we need immigration laws that focus on people who pose a real threat and I don’t think mamas and babies are the place that we should be spending our resources. Separating a mama from a baby does not make this country safer.”
Senator McDaniel responded:
Although liberals and their useful idiot allies in the GOP will cry foul, this not a case of exploiting a horrific tragedy for political gain; this is about showcasing a failed, broken immigration system that is responsible for the deaths of Mollie Tibbetts, Kate Steinle, and many others, crimes that should never have taken place. Millions of Americans are sick and tired of seeing our citizens killed by illegal aliens and are demanding action.
And Chris McDaniel is the only candidate who has the courage to stand with President Trump and fight for the American people and a strong, secure border. He will make sure her death was not in vain.
